Claw care made easy!
Claws carry the milk! This statement makes it clear that only healthy claws contribute to an optimal milk production. Depending on the severity of the claw problems, the cow has to endure pain and the milk produce is reduced in any case.
Regular and correct claw care is therefore of enormous importance for the cow's well-being and the dairy farmer's wallet. Research has shown that claw problems are one of the leading causes of dairy cow deaths. The average cost, depending on the severity of the problems, is up to € 300.00 per cow.
Claw care must always be done by trained persons with suitable tools. It is an individual decision whether the dairy farmer is trained in seminars and does the claw care himself or lets professional claw caretakers take the lead.
The essential phases of claw care (often described as 5- or 6-phase models) are cutting the claws to the correct size, creating a concavity, exposing lesions and applying reliefs (elevations on the healthy partner claw).
Kerbl offers a selection of professional tools for all phases of functional claw care:
- Aesculap brand claw knives and Kerbl "Profi" and "SuperProfi" for left- and right-handers.
- Claw cutting and grinding wheels: different discs should be used depending on the level of training. Too much removal of the horn means the production of lameness.
- Cutting and examination pliers

This hoof care disc impresses with its excellent cutting properties, clean cuts, and ease of use. It provides effective treatment of the hoof sole and interdigital space without the need for additional processing.
Its lightweight design and well-thought-out blade arrangement reduce noise levels during operation, while the closed edge minimizes chip ejection and reduces the risk of injury. The disc is equipped with 6 replaceable carbide blades, which can be used on all 4 sides, ensuring a good price-performance ratio. The quick-release screw connection makes the tool even more convenient to use.

The blade is made of aluminum, which ensures lightness and ease of handling. The tool’s low weight contributes to smooth operation, while the diagonal angle of the cutting elements allows for faster and gentler removal of the hoof horn. The cut surface is so clean that no additional processing is required. The cutting elements are reversible, allowing the blades to be flipped and each element to be replaced individually. Additional convenience is provided by the quick-release screw connection. The cutting height is 1.2 mm (1.8 mm when using the protective cover).

The optimized geometry and arrangement of the P6 blades provide excellent treatment of the hoof soles and interdigital space, eliminating the need for additional hoof care tools.
The solid base of the disc reduces noise and vibrations, increasing its lifespan, while the slanted contact surface enhances control and ergonomics.
The carbide blades, made of fine-grained alloy with high wear resistance, allow processing up to 600 pairs of hooves (provided no stones are present). The optimal cutting geometry ensures a clean cut and speeds up the work by 40% compared to standard discs.

Hoof trimming discs with different grit levels provide effective hoof care, adapting to the condition of the hooves and the stage of treatment.
- Coarse grit discs are ideal for quickly removing rough layers of hoof horn, especially in cases of overgrown hooves.
- Medium grit discs are used for precise trimming and smoothing the surface after the initial cut.
- Fine grit discs provide the final polishing and a clean cut without damaging the hoof tissue.
The use of different discs allows for efficient hoof care, improving animal health and making the farmer's work easier.

Hoof correction in farm animals such as cattle, goats, sheep, and pigs plays a crucial role in maintaining their health. Hoof diseases can lead to reproductive issues, weight loss, premature culling, and, in cows, a reduction in milk production by up to 5 liters per day.
The use of an abrasive hoof disc, specially designed for angle grinders, greatly simplifies the hoof care process. Its wave-like surface ensures efficient grinding and cleaning, quickly removing excess hoof horn and dirt. Easy to use, this tool is perfect for regular hoof maintenance, helping to prevent diseases and reduce animal treatment costs.
